On Tuesday, October 15, 2024, LiberArte Founding CEO Yura Sapi facilitated the workshop "Building Our Own Tables: Developing Podcasts to Amplify Inclusion in the Performing Arts" at the Curriculum for Change Conference: Innovating Access in the Performing Arts, hosted by Lincoln Center and The Juilliard School in collaboration with the School of American Ballet, New York City Ballet, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Lincoln Center Theater, the New York Philharmonic, The Metropolitan Opera, and The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts.
The workshop explored the power of podcasting as a tool for social change and cultural amplification. Led by Yura Sapi, creator and host of the Building Our Own Tables podcast produced for HowlRound Theatre Commons, the session equipped attendees with practical skills for crafting compelling podcast narratives — including identifying impactful themes, finding your authentic voice, storytelling techniques, integrating AI tools in podcast production, and leveraging podcast platforms for community engagement.
The hybrid conference provided a convening ground for educators, administrators, and artists to collectively imagine creative approaches to current issues of access in the arts — with a focus on fostering inclusivity, enhancing accessibility, and embracing novel practices for impact.
