Yara Aly (she/her) is a versatile professional with a diverse skill set and a passion for supporting mission-driven initiatives. Recently, Yara played an integral role in the U.S. tour of Tambacum, an Afro-Colombian music group, as part of her internship at LiberArte. Her work encompassed logistics, marketing, fundraising, budgeting, and international visa coordination, showcasing her ability to manage complex and multifaceted projects. She continues to support LiberArte’s mission of creating abundant futures through art.
As a Reel Works alum, Yara gained hands-on experience in media and entertainment, creating impactful projects like the social media documentary Kings Kid Fitness (2024). This one-minute piece, featuring a local gym owner in Park Slope, Brooklyn, is available on Reel Works’ Instagram. Yara’s expertise in production extends beyond Reel Works, as she has contributed to various pre-production, filming, and editing efforts for social media and promotional content.
With nearly seven years of experience as a freelance Arabic-to-English literary and film translator, copyeditor, and proofreader, Yara specializes in working on independent films, scripts, and literary texts. She is an entry-level member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP), ensuring her skills are honed through continuous professional development.
Yara’s creative portfolio includes co-writing two experimental poetry films, Sky and Sea, in collaboration with German filmmakers Alina Cyranek and Geeske Hanßen as part of the lab/p3 workshop. These works were screened in Berlin, Leipzig, and on MDR Fernsehen, further highlighting her ability to blend linguistic and artistic talents.
