Reel Works mentors, inspires and empowers underserved NYC youth to share their stories through filmmaking, creating a springboard to successful careers in media and beyond. Using a unique, one-on-one mentoring model, Reel Works builds vital skills of literacy, leadership, and self-confidence to create productive futures for youth. The MediaMKRS program was launched by Reel Works in 2019 to address the crisis of inclusion in the media industry. MediaMKRS is a consortium of industry and education leaders that aims to diversify the media landscape and create equitable solutions by bringing together industry leaders, educators, and government officials to train and credential rising talent. JOB DESCRIPTION

Under the supervision of the Director of Development & Communications, the Development Manager will support the mission and vision of Reel Works to ensure the organization is hitting its fundraising milestones by supporting the implementation of the annual fundraising plan, organizing and managing fundraising and cultivation events, managing the annual campaign, and administrative functions for the department, acting as a liaison between program teams and senior leadership. The candidate will help increase and diversify funding while elevating the organization's brand recognition and visibility in the community.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Events & Stewardship (25%)

  • Support the planning and execution of key events throughout the year, including Reel Works annual gala, film festival, screenings and other cultivation events
  • Work with the Director of Development & Communications in the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of high-level event sponsors, contributors, and guests
  • Budget and track event expenses and reporting, schedule committee meetings and track on the event management system. Support event committee meetings; support event chairs and co-chairs and honorees; and actively encourage Board engagement in event cultivation and solicitation activities
  • Recruit, train, and support key volunteers to assist in advancement efforts

Individual Giving (25%)

  • Manage the Annual Appeal process to raise $60K in individual donors for the full range of activities (i.e. letters, overseeing video assets, etc,)
  • Manage relationships with major donors and support stewardship activities, including production of stewardship reports, to ensure that donors feel well cared for
  • Report quarterly on fundraising benchmarks met to date, including contributed income, donors renewed, reactivated, and acquired
  • Research prospective donors, board candidates, and stakeholders for the organization

Institutional Giving (25%)

  • Support institutional giving on maintaining annual renewals and contract support, as needed
  • Assist in drafting grant proposals and reports
  • Conduct prospect research on foundations and corporations and assist in the cultivation of new funders

Administrative & Other (25%)

  • Manage systems and software to track and cultivate donors and prospects, including our donor database and wealth screening tools
  • Accurately input data from various sources, enter and update constituent information, including contact details, demographics, and interactions, into the Salesforce system
  • Run reports, utilize dashboards, and make recommendations for the department’s technical organization
  • Oversee design and production of solicitation letters, accompanying materials, and follow-up e-blasts; and draft copy as needed
  • Collaborate between departments to achieve organizational goals
  • Coordinate the delivery of strategic communication assets for events such as donor bios, shot list, and lookbooks for signature programs in tandem with the Communications Associate and/or interns

QUALIFICATIONS

WHAT YOU’VE DONE

  • 2-5 years of proven experience working in fundraising or development roles
  • 1-2 years of experience with Special Events or Communications, or equivalent
  • Experience with Media or Youth Development is preferred, but not required
  • Excellent computer skills including database, word processing
  • Experience with Salesforce and project management databases
  • Bachelor's or higher degree, or equivalent work experience in Fundraising, Non-Profit Management, or Non-Profit Database management
