Our retreat is a space to center BIPOC queer arts and healing and a space to be our unique selves with fearless free expression. We spend days on the farm with AfroIndigneous food access project Protectores de la Tierra, surf the waves of the Pacific Ocean with local surf community, dance to live music with Tambacum, and visit sacred thermal baths through the forest. All throughout, we practice ancestral healing rituals connecting with the four elements the earth, its waterways, fresh airs, and fires. We are grateful for space to breathe, eat, grow, and to share in community.

It was an honor to welcome in our first Balistikal Queer Retreat, in Nuqui, Chocó this past February 2023.

Fue un honor recibir nuestro primer Retiro LGBTIQ+ Balistikal, en Nuqui, Chocó el pasado febrero de 2023.

Our retreat is a space to center BIPOC queer arts and healing and a space to be our unique selves with fearless free expression. Our group of 7 divine beings connected with the local community experiencing music, foods, ancestral drinks, and the territory. We spent days on the farm with AfroIndigneous food access project Protectores de la Tierra, surfed the waves of the Pacific Ocean in Termales with the local surf community, heard and danced live music rituals with Tambacum, and visited sacred thermal baths in Jurubíra via a walk through the forest with local guide, Alirio Gonzalez. All throughout, we practiced ancestral healing rituals connecting with the four elements the earth, its waterways, fresh airs, and fires. We are grateful for space to breathe, eat, grow, and to share in community.

Nuestro retiro es un espacio para centrar las artes y sanación LGBTIQ+ y un espacio para ser nosotres mismes con expresión libre. Nuestro grupo de 7 seres divinos conectados con la comunidad local experimentamos música, comidas, bebidas ancestrales y el territorio. Pasamos días en la finca con proyecto de acceso de alimentación afroindígena, Protectores de la Tierra, surfeamos las olas del Océano Pacífico en Termales con la comunidad local de surf, escuchamos y bailamos de música tradicional en vivo con Tambacum y visitamos baños termales sagrados en Jurubíra a través de una caminata. por el bosque con guía local, Alirio González. Durante todo este tiempo, practicamos rituales ancestrales de sanación conectando con los cuatro elementos: la tierra, sus vías fluviales, aires frescos y fuegos. Estamos agradecides por el espacio para respirar, comer, crecer y compartir en comunidad.

This healing space — for and with Queer, artist and creative activist, Black, Indigenous, and mestiza Latinx people and our allies — allowed us to recharge and refuel to continue our work.
